LOCATION: Misool, West Papua, Raja Ampat, Indonesia
STORY BEHIND THE SHOT: The original photograph that is multiplied to create Reflections 5 is of a school of silverside minnows swarming around an impossibly long whip coral (aka wire coral). Its not uncommon for whip corals to reach 6 feet long, but this ancient giant is well over 10 feet! While we don’t understand why they spiral into this shape, I’m grateful for it as a photographer, as they afford me countless compositions. When diving, look closely at the coral, as it is often home to creatures who live nowhere else, including wire coral shrimp, wire coral crabs, and several species of goby. TO PURCHASE REFLECTIONS AS A FINE ART PRINT ON ALUMINUM: Reflections are generally best kept in their original 3:2 aspect ratio. They are easily rotated 90-degrees to use as a vertical, but please notify our design team while ordering if you plan to hang it vertically so it can be signed & numbered on the correct side, and we arrange the correct hanging hardware for you.
