STORY BEHIND THE SHOT: The original photograph that is multiplied to create Reflections 7 is of a massive black coral, living deep on a Maldivian reef. It’s a common misconception that black coral is black, but that comes from it being poached, and sold (usually illegally, but always unethically) dried and polished, often as jewelery. But healthy, living black coral can be almost any color other than black! Here, this colony is over 10′ wide, making it likely more than 200 years old. The orange fish are anthias, and the smaller metallic fish living deep within the coral are cardinalfish.
TO PURCHASE REFLECTIONS AS A FINE ART PRINT ON ALUMINUM: Reflections are generally best kept in their original 3:2 aspect ratio. They are easily rotated 90-degrees to use as a vertical, but please notify our design team while ordering if you plan to hang it vertically so it can be signed & numbered on the correct side, and we arrange the correct hanging hardware for you.
