STORY: Without sounding like a corny dating profile, I really do love long walks on the beach. But unlike those with hair, a sunburn-prone bald guy like me simply must not do it during the day. And when the full moon comes, it becomes much easier to do my real favorite night-time beach activity; looking for nesting sea turtles. But waiting for turtles can be a tedious, disappointing activity, so to pass the time, I work on capturing the beauty of the ocean.
It may look like a sunset photo, but we are actually looking at the middle of the night during a full moon. The clouds are lit both by the moonlight, and the city lights behind me, and the pounding waves are made soft by the length of the exposure necessary to amplify the relatively faint light reflecting off the moon.
Bad Moon Rising is now available in the Endless Summer Collection of limited edition prints, starting at 16×24, and available customized up to 96″ wide in either gallery-wrap canvas or high-gloss aluminum.
