Alien 18

Alien #18

Location: Philippines

Story: The wonderful Wonderpus! No, I didn’t make that name up! It’s scientific name is Wonderpus photogenicus – no joke! I promise – I didn’t make that one up either! It’s an extremely rare species of octo who usually lives in sandy/muddy environments in the South Pacific. It’s related to the similar mimic octopus, and the adults of both species are known for their ability to copy the shape, color, and swimming behavior of other marinelife such as flounder, eels, or sea snakes. This larval specimen with a head & body of ~1cm and a legspan of ~7cm clearly belongs in the Aliens Collection – all I can see is a creature piloting a craft to Earth to abduct a few humans for probing experiments! Shot in the Philippines.
