Cuteness overload! Alien 13 is a larval stage pancake batfish (probably Halieutichthys aculeatus), about 1.5cm long. Science does not yet understand the purpose of it’s bubble or the streamer coming off its first dorsal spine, which can be 10x its body length. But both of those fascinating body parts will shrink back as they metamorphosize into their adult stage. As an adult, it’ll slowly walks along the seafloor on hand-like fins. As a larvae, it is constantly in motion, doing the most adorable little shimmy wiggle dance. The mysteries are half the fun of the Aliens Collection!
For printing, we offer the Aliens as squares on either aluminum or canvas, but they are customizable into other shapes if your design plan requires it.
