ALIEN #13 – Slipper Lobster larvae riding on a jellyfish. Lobster carapace ~8mm wide
When drifting through the blackness of the abyss, anything to provide stability and a reference can be a welcome treat. Well, at least for the lobster! The jellyfish, on the other hand, is effectively the prisoner of the lobster, and is likely very hampered in its own locomotion and feeding efforts. While the jellyfish pulses forward, the lobster is also a fair swimmer (note it’s feathery appendages) and steers the jelly’s direction to the lobster’s will.
