STORY: Queen angelfish (Holocanthus ciliaris) are notoriously skittish and difficult to approach & photograph. For years, I had gotten only butt-shots as they swam away as soon as I got within range, but on this serendipitous day, I saw from a distance that this mated pair might….just might….. swim through a small crevice, and I was waiting patiently on the other side. One shot, one opportunity, “click!” Got it! And before I could blink, they quickly presented me with the “southbound end of a northbound fish”. Always be ready!
